I don't really want one just because I don't want to have to keep doing that quest chain every year to avoid missing out on some exclusive reward. I'm not thinking about now so much as I'm thinking 5 years down the line.

I vote no for the direction this thread has taken.

If I can't put it in my HoM, I don't care either way.

Why waste resources on something as silly and unnecessary as this?

Following the trend, if they are going to do a new one this year the most logical route to go would be the reindeer. They've already got a "jingle" model and skin, probably all they'd need would be some animations that they likely lack currently.

All that said though, I don't particularly care if we get a new one or not. As you said not many people use pets even after the pet update a while back. So the pets just end up being like the candy weapons, cute festive items that you forget about for the other 11 months of the year.
The reindeer would be a completely new pet model for the game. The hippopotamus was once a charmable pet (back in the Nightfall pre-release) but the higher ups at ArenaNet decided it should be removed because it used it's own model and had to be loaded separately from other pet assets which had latency problems or something. Most pets use a common base model that already exists in the game (rainbow phoenix, phoenix, eagle, black bear, polar bear, jingle bear, moa bird, flamingo, crane etc). Here is the quote form Gaile:

We wanted to keep the number of tame-able pets to a reasonable number and keep the asset list manageable, therefore, with regret, we decided to remove the hippo. -- Gaile 01:19, 10 October 2007 (UTC).
So adding a new pet which uses an already existing skeleton is fine, but new skeletons (like the hippo or the reindeer) have the above problem. If they did add another jingle pet it would probably an alteration of an already existing pet for this reason, not the introduction of a whole new skeleton.

There are already Reindeer in the game:

They could even take the Kidnapped Reindeer and just use that existing model:

For the same reason they waste time on weapon and armor skins that add nothing to actual play.

Variety is a major piece of keeping any game interesting.

They should really do a Scrooge costume for players, sure to be a huge seller.

I am guessing here that had they asked if we wanted festivals at all someone would have said don't waste resources on trivialities.

Trouble is what is trivial to one player is good fun to someone else.

Pretty sure we could find players that disapproved of every game change ever made.

Maybe there is another sub team working on it.

Oh well, i can't help it if certain individuals don't like pretty things, not up to the x'mas spirit, and want dervish builds as soon as possible just for their own benefits and usefulness. It doesn't hurt to rest abit and enjoy the christmas spirits rather than working in questing your ass off.

I voted Indifferent, but probably should've voted no... I wouldn't bother taming a new one if it was added -- I don't even have the Moa.

Easily. Look at every major game update we've ever had, and you'll find several people who raged hard, no matter how trivial or important it was.

I'd have to split my vote for a Jingle Hog or a Jingle Crab. I'd prefer the hog, been a fan of them since I first bumped those Prize-Winning hogs back into their pen all those years ago.
